Buds, Blossoms, and Pollen - oh, my!

Warmer weather is finally here, and with the promise of Spring, comes the promise of buds, blossoms, and pollen - oh, my! According to the CDC ("Centers for Disease Control and Prevention"), 7.1 million children under the age of 18, or 9.6% of that population, were diagnosed with respiratory allergies in 2018. Here are 3 sites about allergies you might find interesting:

WebMD: Seasonal Allergies: Nip them in the Bud

This is what I do to deal with MY seasonal allergies:

  • Rinse my sinuses with Neilmed Sinus Rinse

  • Take 10mg of loratadine (e.g., Claritin)

  • Drink more water

  • If pollen count is REALLY bad, stay inside as much as possible.

Allergies make life difficult, but you CAN sing with allergies. I have a good college friend who suffered with LOTS of allergies, but was able to successfully audition for the New York City Opera Chorus.

So, hang in there, and determine what YOU need to do to KEEP SINGING with seasonal allergies.
