Practice Tips from TheBulletproofMusician.com

Happy Monday morning, Everyone!

A few months ago, I stumbled upon the work of Noa Kageyama, PhD., and subscribed to his weekly email/podcasts relating to practicing and being a better musician. Have a look/listen at his Sunday, July 25, 2021, podcast:

Here are a few notes from this podcast about practicing:

  1. Review your music BEFORE you go to sleep. This doesn't mean necessarily singing out loud, but sitting down with your music, and singing through it in your mind. This can be particularly helpful for the technical aspects of memorization and tricky rhythms.

  2. Get a good night's sleep. This is critical in the learning process.

  3. If you have an early AM rehearsal or performance, get up a bit earlier to review your music beforehand.

May this help all of us enjoy being better performers and musicians.

And good luck to my voice students presenting their Summer Recital this Saturday, July 31, 2021. You're going to be awesome!!
